How Much CBD Should I Take?

CBD has gained popularity over the last few years as a great treatment for issues relating to:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Sleep quality
  • Pain and inflammation
  • Heart health

The cannabidiol is a derivative from the cannabis plant-- but, before you get too ahead of yourself, CBD isn’t intoxicating  which means it won’t get you “high.”

There’s lots to know when it comes to CBD, so it’s important to understand it thoroughly before you start taking it to make sure you’re doing it safely and in a manner that will be helpful to you.

In this article, we’re going to be talking about how much CBD you should take, but before that we’re going to go over some other important topics first. These include more details about the benefits of CBD and the research that has gone into understanding CBD.

The Benefits of CBD

CBD has a lot going for it, using it often can have some major benefits to your daily life.

You can never go wrong with CBD-- serious side effects are uncommon, and it could be the solution to your anxiety and stress that you’ve been looking for.

CBD has become popular over the last few years due to its believed ability to have a lot of positive effects on the physical and mental aspects of your body. Some of those most popular issues it is said to help with are depression, anxiety, and sleep.

When it comes to depression, studies have found that CBD has the ability to affect how the brain reacts to serotonin, a neurotransmitter that has a crucial role in regulating your mood. Depression is a mental illness that has an influence over the level of serotonin in the brain-- using CBD may help the brain respond to serotonin in a more effective manner.

CBD has also proven to help those who struggle with anxiety. Those who take CBD for their anxiety have reported having lower heart rates and other behavioral signs of anxiety. A 2011 study looked into CBD’s effects on social anxiety disorder. 400 milligrams of CBD was given to participants-- overall results indicated an experience that calmed their anxiety.

In the face of sleep, CBD shines. Studies have shown that people who take CBD reported improvements in the quality of sleep. In one particular study done in 2019, 72 subjects were studied. Going into the study, 47 had reported experiencing anxiety and 25 experienced poor sleep- this would be monitored in relation to the CBD they were given to see the effects of CBD. The subjects were given 25 milligrams of CBD each day-- in the first month, 79.2 percent of patients said they had lower anxiety levels 66.7 percent reported overall better sleep.

CBD has the ability to affect not just sleep itself, but everything else that goes along with it. Grogginess and feeling lethargic throughout the day is another issue many deal with as they battle insomnia. In a 2014 study, it was found that CBD could have the ability to promote a sense of wakefulness.

Research on CBD is just beginning-- yet, we can already see how cannabidiol is helping people with everyday issues.

Research Into Understanding CBD

Though the research is still new, doctors and scientists are beginning to understand how CBD is helping people live better lives.

CBD is still a young practice within our society-- this means there isn’t a lot of research about possible long term side effects or how it may impact different people who have different issues, so just be aware of how you may react to the product if you choose to start using it.

CBD is still a relatively new treatment option, doctors and researchers around the world are working to understand its effects and benefits. Though it is new to the medical world as a treatment, it is understood CBD is a safe option to combat issues relating to problems like anxiety, depression, and some other medical issues.

A review published in 2019 looked at previously published studies to better understand CBD as a treatment-- what they found suggests that CBD does help patients, but it is overall still such a new treatment option that more research needs to be done to see how it could help in other ways as well.

Using CBD is completely up to your discretion! If you’re unsure about how it may affect you and your body don’t be afraid to ask your doctor.

How Much CBD Should I Take?
Taking the right amount of CBD is crucial to getting the desired effects that will help you.

There are so many different ways to take CBD, so as you learn more about the product and try different variants of it, be sure to remember how each product made you feel! That way you’ll be able to continue to use whichever method works best for you and your body.

It’s important to consider how much CBD to take in order to feel the desired effects. When deciding how much to take it’s important to consider:

  • The condition you’re treating
  • Your individual body chemistry
  • The concentration of the CBD

It’s typically recommended to start off with 20-25 milligrams of CBD. As time goes on, and you’re still looking for that sweet spot, start to increase the amount by 5 milligrams.

Experiencing the effects depends on how you take it and how much you take at a time. When you smoke/vape CBD you’ll tend to feel the effects immediately-- if you’re taking an oil dose, for example, you might feel the effects over a range of a few days as you play around with getting used to the right dosage amount. Overall, you’re looking for a feeling where stress/anxiety melts away and your mood is slightly lifted.

CBD amounts also depend on what kind of CBD you’ll be taking. This means you may find yourself choosing between an isolate, broad spectrum or a full-spectrum product. The difference is that an isolate product is simply going to contain pure CBD whereas a full-spectrum mix is going to contain CBD, THC, and other cannabinoids. Broad-spectrum products are used most commonly because they are the sweet spot between isolate and full-spectrum products. A broad-spectrum CBD product means that you will be getting CBD that has gone through the process of removal of any THC traces- you get the benefits of a full-spectrum product but with the THC removed.

As you navigate buying CBD pay attention to the different kinds along with how much you're taking to ensure an experience that’s going to be most effective for your needs.
