Getting a good night's sleep is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Along with a good diet and exercise, it’s essential in order to keep our body functioning at its best. However many people struggle to get that much needed rest for a variety of different reasons. Without restful and rejuvenating sleep we’re left tired and less alert, resulting in less energy to take on the tasks of the day.

One way to help your body and mind prepare for sleep is to include a sleep spray or a pillow mist into your nighttime routine. Making time to use a sleep spray at night is a great way to signal to your body that it’s time to wind down. But what exactly is a sleep spray and how can you use it?

If you’d like to learn the answer to these questions and more, you’ve come to the right place! In this article, we’re going to focus on:

  • Why a pillow mist can help you wind down at night
  • What is a sleep spray and how does it work?

Sleep can be very elusive, and for many different reasons. Whether you have a hard time turning off your mind at the end of the day, can’t stop thinking about tomorrow, or stay awake to finish an endless stream of tasks, our sleep schedule can be easily thrown off track. However, without a good night’s rest, how can we expect to be at our best the next day? This is why making a nighttime routine to prepare for sleep is just as important as your getting ready routine each morning.

A great way to help your body prepare for sleep is to use a sleep spray, or a pillow mist, on your bed linens at night. They are typically made in wonderful, relaxing scents such as lavender or chamomile, and are designed to help you wind down and prepare for bed.

When you use a pillow spray on your linens nightly, it acts as a cue to your body that it is time to prepare for bed, so as you are reading, listening to music, or simply laying in bed you can start to let go of the day and drift off to sleep. Sleep sprays can help us relax and hopefully fall asleep faster, so we can wake up feeling refreshed

A sleep spray could be a great way to include the calming and soothing benefits of aromatherapy into your nighttime routine. Sleep sprays can include, but are not limited to, beneficial bedtime ingredients such as lavender, vanilla, or chamomile. These ingredients all help promote a sense of calm, and can help let both your body and mind know that it’s time to prepare for sleep. It’s easy to use a sleep spray when you want to create an atmosphere that promotes relaxation so you can get a restful night’s sleep!

  • Choose a sleep spray that has an aroma you love and includes ingredients that can help you fall asleep.
  • Spray your pillow and linens with the sleep spray about 2-3 minutes before you intend on getting into bed so that there’s time for it to dry. A couple of sprays from your bottle should be sufficient.
  • Get into bed and enjoy the soothing aroma and allow the pillow spray to gently lull you off to sleep!

With a pillow mist, you’re just a few sprays away from better sleep! Since you’re applying it directly where you’ll be sleeping, you’ll enjoy the benefits of the wonderful aromas throughout the course of the night, helping you not only fall asleep, but stay asleep. A sleep spray is safe to use each night if you want to, or you can choose to use it as you need it.

Routines are very beneficial to us and we often follow them in order to get the most out of our days. But if you want to get good sleep each night, did you know that having a good nighttime routine is just as important? Setting up a good nighttime routine isn’t as hard as you might think, and adding in a sleep spray is even easier! Here are some top suggestions to help you create an effective bedtime routine:

  • Stick to a bedtime. In order to help keep your sleep/wake cycle in harmony, it helps to set a bedtime and waking time. Sticking to these times allows you to also designate how long you need before bedtime to wind down and prepare for sleep. This can be anywhere from an hour to 15 minutes--just as long as it works for you!
  • Leave the electronics alone. The blue light that emanates from our phones and other electronic devices tricks your brain into thinking it’s still daytime, and delays the production and release of melatonin, which is essential for good sleep. It’s helpful to put down these devices at least an hour before bedtime and make sure you set your phone to “night mode” which has a warmer light filter on throughout the night in case you do need to look at it.
  • Consider having a warm cup of tea or a relaxing bath. Relaxing herbal tea is a great bedtime routine and can help you prepare for sleep. Choose a blend that includes lavender, chamomile, or valerian root for extra support. You could also choose to enjoy a bath before bed and allow the warm water and bubbles, salts, or bath bomb aromas calm you down--bonus if there’s CBD in the salts or bath bomb!
  • Engage in a light activity. Reading, listening to music, journaling, or meditation are all great ways to tell your mind it’s time to prepare for sleep.
  • Keep your bedroom cool, dark, and comfortable. Ensure your bedroom is a comfortable and cool temperature, it’s dark enough, and there’s limited noise.
  • Use your pillow mist. Spray your pillow and linens with your sleep spray, and have a good night’s sleep!

Stick to a bedtime routine like this, and you’ll find that not only has your sleep improved, but you’ll be waking up with more energy to enjoy your day.
